Chapter 6

** Nick **
Nick looked around at this picture perfect world laid out in
front of him. The sky was an incredible shade of blue, spotted
with white clouds. There were miles of sunflowers outstretched in
every direction he looked. A slight breeze flew by him and the
fragrance enticed his heart. It was a fragrance of beauty. He
followed the breeze and was led straight to a girl laying in a
patch of sunflowers. She was wearing a sleeveless white sun dress
that seemed to flow over her golden colored body. Locks of curly,
honey colored hair fanned out above her head. She lay there with
a content smile upon her pink lips. He stepped in closer to look
at her closely. She sat up and opened her eyes, locking them with
his. She held out her hand and kept eye contact with him. As if
he knew exactly what to do, Nick took her hand and laid down
beside her. They embraced and lay together under the splendor of
the warm and glorious sun.
"I was waiting for you," she spoke softly.
Nick looked at her angelic face and smiled. "I'm glad to be
with you. I've been looking for you forever."
"I know. So have I. But we don't have to look anymore. We're
here, together

"Mister and Misses Carter?" asked Doctor Green as he
walked into the hospital waiting room. Jane and Bob shot up from
their plastic chairs and walked to Dr. Green.
"What can you tell us?" Jane asked. Her face was
withdrawn and void of any color.
"He's out of surgery now and resting. I'm going to tell you
all that I can tell you Mister and Misses Carter. As it looks,
the car in front of your son hit a few rocks that were deposited
onto the highway from an overturned truck. She hit the rocks and
lost control of her car. It got turned around and collided with
your son's vehicle head on." Jane's breathing shortened and
she looked up to her husband in utter disbelief.
"Your son has a few broken ribs, a broken leg and a broken
arm. He's also got a concussion, which is why he is in his coma
state. Quite frankly he's lucky to be as well off as he is.
Compared to the other driver
Let me just say that Nick is
one very lucky young man." Jane and Bob embraced tightly.
She couldn't bare the news. She cried into her husband's jacket.
Bob looked up at Doctor Green. "What about the other
driver?"
"The driver of the other vehicle is still in surgery with
Doctor Lynn as we speak. I don't know all the details but as it
looks now, she too has a few broken ribs and bones, but is
suffering from a few internal punctures and slight internal
bleeding. We predict that she too will be in a coma. We just
don't know how long that will be for. She is lucky to have
survived the initial accident, but we're not completely sure
she'll survive the aftermath. I'm not definite on her full
condition as of yet. When she is out of surgery we'll know
more."
"Where is her family? Haven't they been notified?"
asked Bob.
Doctor Green sadly shook his head. "A young man by the name
of Thomas Kane came in earlier. He was a close friend of the
young lady and wanted to make sure that all of her hospital bills
were sent to him. He said that she has no family. It really is
quite sad. Unfortunately, when you don't have anyone close to you
at a time like this
Let's just say that it is hard to
determine what her recovery rate will be. If she has no family or
friends at her side praying for her recover then
She might
feel that she has nothing to live for."
"She has no family whatsoever?" asked Jane. She wiped
away some loose tears and stared at the doctor with wide,
frightened eyes. Doctor Green shook his head. "Apparently
not. I have to get back to my patients. Excuse me." Doctor
Green left as Jane and Bob looked at each other, both horrified
by the news all around.
"How terrible! Pray with me Bob. Pray that our son makes it
through."
** Georgia **
"Couldn't you just lay here forever?" asked Georgia as
she snuggled even closer to Nick.
"We'd have to go back eventually. Don't you want to go
back?"
Georgia looked at Nick. Did she? She looked away and when she
went to look back at him, all she saw was a black sky with stars
studded everywhere. She turned around and saw that she was all
alone. All she could see was the black sky and the silver stars.
"Isn't there anybody here to see me? You can't leave me
alone! Please? Someone?"

Georgia, having just come out of surgery, was wheeled into her
room in the Intensive Care Unit. The female nurse changed the IV
bag then turned off the lights as she left the room. Georgia laid
there, barely breathing, barely alive.
